Arena’s support sees lots more young runners over the line

There’s still time to get the kids involved in this summer’s Arena series of mini, junior and family fun runs. The Bury Family Run takes place in the heart of the town on Sunday 15th September, with the Sheffield mini and junior run taking place the following Sunday, the 22nd September. Both events are organised by Run for All to sit alongside the 10k runs, and provide younger runners a chance to get involved in a competitive event, to raise funds for worthy causes close to their hearts or just to have some fun!
Arena sponsors these events that also take place in Lincoln, Leeds and York to encourage young people to take part in an enjoyable, healthy activity. This ethos of ‘everyone can’ is closely aligned with those of event partner, Bury Council.
Pritesh Patel from Bury Council’s Sport and Physical Activity Service said: “This free event is a great opportunity for families to enjoy some family time together. You don’t have to be a seasoned runner to take part, everyone can give it a go. It’s perfectly OK to run part of the route and walk the rest, or walk all the way if you want to. Families can do whatever works best for them. We just want families to come out in force, get moving and enjoy themselves.”
Before the new school year started, the run’s mascot, Arena Owl, called on the Bury summer sports camp to cheer on the young participants, and encourage more to sign themselves and their families up for the fun run.
Nick Pendlebury of Arena Group was also on hand. “The local team is looking forward to joining Arena Owl, the run’s mascot, cheering on the young runners along with family, friends and passers-by that make up a supportive crowd. We’re proud that Arena’s support can ensure that background or ability is no barrier to getting involved in a fun, health activity that’s become a highlight to the town’s event calendar.”
