We believe passionately in maintaining an awareness of how our activities impact on the environment and the local community.
We have been awarded ISO14001 from British Standards for measures we have put in place to reduce the impact our trading has on the environment. View our environmental statement for more on these measures.
In terms of giving something back to the community, for many years our employees have engaged in fundraising for various charities, in their own time, and we have had a policy of matching the amount raised by the individual. However, we wanted to be more proactive in local charity work, rather than waiting for our employees to take the initiative.
We spent some time investigating the most constructive ways in which we give something back, particularly to children in our local community. This lead to the introduction of a new scheme that allows employees 2 days per annum in which they can get involved with local charity work.
Through partnerships with Leeds Ahead and Barnardos, staff are given help in finding the best ways in which they can get involved and give something back to the community, whilst at the same time enriching their working lives.
We are pleased to say that so far the scheme has been a success. Employees have been involved in helping local schools deliver special days on enterprise and have also helped in cleaning up urban areas. We hope to keep the progress of this scheme updated on our news pages
