Arena Achieves Leeds Charter Status

Chamber patron, Arena Group has been recognised by Leeds City Council for the support and ongoing contributions it provides to the local community.

The council has awarded Community Charter Status to Arena, the document solutions specialists.

The status highlights Arena’s dedication to helping local communities and the environment and demonstrates both the company’s and employees’ commitment to giving something back.

Arena regularly gets involved with community work, recently donating 35 high value Toshiba print devices, to a selection of charity organisations, including SLATE, Al Haqq Education Trust, Leeds Children’s Holiday Camp Association and Hyde Park Drop In.

As well as charitable donations, Arena staff like to get involved and, with the help of Leeds Ahead, dedicate 2 days per year to local community and charity work.

In the past 12 months, volunteers from Arena have supported Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, Holbeck Elderly Aid, South Leeds High School, a number of enterprise days in Leeds primary schools and have donated goods to a number of community and voluntary sector organisations working in the most deprived areas of the city. Arena also entered a team for Leeds Community Foundation’s dragon boat race this year, coming second on the day and raising funds for local groups in the process.

Martin Wright, general manager of Arena’s IT division said:

“We are a locally-based firm and have a strong CSR policy that is based on providing help to local communities. We felt that the donation of this equipment was a great way for us to provide very practical help to local groups so that they can improve their communication and publicity material. This is one part of our ongoing commitment to the local area.”

The Community Charter for Suppliers has been set up by the council and its partners, Leeds Ahead and The Leeds Community Foundation, to help disadvantaged local areas. The charter gives advice to local businesses and shows them how to make a difference to their local community. This might be offering financial support to local incentives, helping people into work, staff volunteering, and much more.
