Arena gets the community spirit
Staff at Arena Group have recently been leaving their desks behind in order help clean up local urban areas and mentor local school children.
The scheme, part of the company’s CSR policy aimed at giving something back to the community, allows employees two days per year to join projects organised by Leeds Ahead and Barnardos. Arena has also donated five photocopiers to Leeds Ahead, which have been distributed locally to worthy causes, but it’s the chance to get involved with local projects that has really excited the Arena team.
Tom Whiteley, who took part in the ‘Smoothie Challenge’ enterprise day at Brownhill Primary School, says: “it was really good to spend some time with the kids and try to give them an idea of the world of work. I think with projects like this, Leeds Ahead really help to raise children’s expectations of what they can achieve and possibly create a few entrepreneurs of tomorrow.”
Other projects staff have been involved in include a ‘world of work day’ at Hollybush Primary School and the Aire Canal Walkways Project.
