Arena reaches the peak
Workers at Arena Group have taken part in a rewarding but daunting charity challenge.
Employees set out to conquer the 3 highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales.
Their efforts on Ben Nevis, Scarfell and Snowdon saw them raise £2,500 for Barnardos but it wasn’t all a walk in the national park, as out of 17 starters only 9 managed to finish. One of the 9 to finish, James Dawson, recalls: “We started at the foot of Ben Nevis at 5pm in lovely, sunny weather. By the time we reached the summit it was foggy and very cold.
“The drive from Fort William to Wasdale Head was a long and through the night, we started the climb up Scafell Pike at 4am in the morning, using head torches. Again, it was very foggy and cold.
“The final climb, up Snowdon the next afternoon, started with a torrential downpour. Again we had wind, fog and cold at the top. But we raised over £1,200 in sponsorship and Arena Group are doubling that, so it is £2,500 going to Barnardos.
The walkers set up a website and it is staying open for donations at www.justgiving.com/colingrave
